STRUCTURE
The BCMS is essentially governed by a committee of 9 that meet monthly. They have appointed 7 supervisors two of whom are rostered on whenever the workshop is operating. Collectively they endeavour to implement fully and adhere to the policies and statutory WH&S guidelines further developed by the Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) of which the Ballina group is a member (No 377).
The AMSA is a national body funded by the Federal Government which provides advice, support, insurance, manuals, conferences and State and Regional (we are in the Northern Rivers Zone 12) structures. Active participation and grassroots connection with members of the BCMS is maintained through morning tea breaks which include discussions and presentations at each local session. The shed is register with the ACNC as a Not-For-Profit Health Promotion Charity and eligible for GST Concessions, income tax exemptions and FBT exemptions and has Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status with the ATO. It is registered for GST.
